No Spurs Players in Latest Lionesses Squad vs Brazil and Australia [Updated]

Lioness

[Update - 22 October: Jess Naz has now been called up to the England squad.]

There are no Spurs players in Sarina Wiegman's latest Lionesses squad. Despite Tottenham's strong start to the season, and her own individual performances, Jess Naz has not been recalled. With Ella Morris injured and Bethany England's international career seemingly over, it means nobody from Tottenham will represent England in the Homecoming Series.

The games against Brazil (25 October) and Australia (28 October) are there to celebrate the amazing Euros win this summer. Announcing the squad, Wiegman said:

Sarina Wiegman said: “It’s great to be back and we’re really looking forward to playing in front of our fantastic home support again after such an incredible summer in Switzerland. We felt the energy from the stands throughout the tournament and we’re grateful to have our fans with us again in October and November. In Brazil and Australia we’ll be facing two top opponents who will each test us in different ways, which is exactly the kind of challenge we need as we prepare for World Cup qualification starting early next year. It’s lovely to celebrate success but this is also the start of a new cycle with new opportunities and objectives. I cannot wait to get everyone together and started next week.

I suspect it will be Naz that is the most disappointed. She lost her place in the squad after poor form last season. Consequently, she was not part of the victory in Switzerland. However, she has been a key part of Spurs Women's strong start to this season.

Spurs Women on International Duty

While there will be no Spurs player's in the England team, players will be represent other nations. Olivia Holdt's fantastic start to the campaign has been recognised by a call up to the Denmark squad. Unsurprisingly, Cathinka Tandberg's brilliant form has been rewarded with a call-up from Norway. Goalkeeper Lize Kop has been named in the Netherlands squad.

Some of the Aussie contingent at Hotspur Way will be on duty too. This includes Clare Hunt, who has barely put a foot wrong so far. A round-up of all Spurs players on international duty is here.
