Eleanor Heeps has signed a new contract with Spurs Women. It will mean the up-and-coming 'keeper remains at the club until 2028.
Spurs signed Heeps from Liverpool, where she had gone through the academy system, in August 2021. She got her competitive debut for Tottenahm women in November 2024, keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in the League Cup. The next month, Heeps made her WSL debut in the 2-1 win over Everton. This season, the 21-year-old has played in two in the WSL matches, three League Cup matches and one FA Cup tie.
Heeps is also being noticed on the international season. She received a first England Under-23s call-up in February and was also involved in the most recent international break.
Breaking through into the Tottenham Women first team is going to be a challenge for Heeps. Lize Kop has made a strong start to her time at the club, despite the disappointing results. The Dutch shot stopper has cemented her place as the number 1. However, with Becky Spencer on loan at Chelsea, it's possible Heeps will get a chance in the remaining games of this campaign.
Manager Welcome Eleanor Heeps Deal
Interestingly, Vilahalmn said that when Heeps arrived "she was a very shy goalkeeper who didn't really take the place that she needed." However, the manager feels Heeps has developed in recent years and "actually performed very well in the league and in the cups this season."
Vilhalmn noted that bring through 'keepers can be complicated. "I think when you can find one in house where you can develop her and take steps with her, I think that's brilliant," he said. He praised the "really good teamwork from the staff and her here in the in Tottenham."
