Preview: Chelsea vs Tottenham Women in the WSL - 12 October, 2025

It has been a fantastic start to life under Martin Ho for Spurs Women. They have got 12 points from a possible 15, conceding just six goals, five of which came in that shambolic match against Man City. Spurs go into this weekend ahead of Arsenal in the league. Stop the count.

No, seriously, stop the count. It's Chelsea up next.

Are we going to see the same frailties that were on display against Man City? Manager Martin Ho certainly does not think the issues are psychological. "There's nothing on our backs to take a psychological effect on us," he insisted, when asked about Spurs' poor record against the top sides. The Spurs boss also said that his need will need to take advantage if they get momentum and "make sure that you can capitalise on the moments when you're on top. That's something we need to look at in terms of when we have momentum, do we take it?" Equally, he said, "when we're against it, more importantly, can we ride it out?"

I remain unconvinced that Spurs can get anything from tomorrow. Chelsea are managing to win without even playing that well and have threats throughout there team. However, it is certainly true that in most games Spurs have shown a toughness we have not seen in previous seasons.

Ho also promised "we go into the game with a confidence and belief of our own performances." Maybe that belief can see them through.

Bartrip Back For Trip to Chelsea

Despite excellent performances from Clare Hunt and Toko Koga at the back, Spurs will be happy to possibly welcome back Molly Bartrip into the matchday squad. "Molly is in contention for the squad," Ho said on Friday.

Perhaps the biggest decision for Ho will be how Spurs line up upfront. Tinka Tandberg is the team's biggest goalscoring threat and undroppable. She has been linking well with Beth England, but can you really play two strikers in this games? We will see.

The game vs Brighton last week was a test if Tottenham Women could keep beating the rest. This week, they will once again have to show whether or not they can compete with the best.
