No Spurs players have been named in 23-player England squad for Euro 2025. Sarina Wiegman has left out Beth England and Jess Naz, while Ella Morris suffered a devastating ACL injury in training following her first Lionesses call-up.
Naz has been involved recently with the Lionesses, but dropped out of favour after claiming just two goals and one assist in the season. Morris clearly was in contention and, I suspect, might have gone had she performed solidly in the Nations League games that took place ahead of today's announcement.
For me, England is the bigger miss. She scored eight goals and got one assist in the season. The whole team only scored 26 in what was a terrible WSL campaign, underlining quite was a goal threat she still is. Michelle Agyemang is clearly extremely talented, but the Brighton forward is just 19-years-old. England offers leadership and experience in way Agyemang simply cannot at this stage of her career. However, Wiegman has not shown any interest in the Spurs skipper since the 2023 World Cup final. I think it could prove a mistake, especially if the Lionesses finding themselves in need of a late goal.
England's road to retaining their Euros tile begins on Saturday 5 July, when they play France. They they take on Netherlands on Wednesday 9 July and Wales on Sunday 13 July.
