Rosella Ayane has left Tottenham Hotspur Women following the expiration of her contract, the club confirmed today. The forward joined in 2019 from Bristol City. She was part of the Spurs squad that competed in the WSL for the first time that same year.
In total, Ayane made 109 appearances in Lilywhite, but netted just 12 times. My abiding memory of her is missing an open goal in the historic North London Derby win in December 2023. Had the Morocco international scored, it would have made the last few minutes much more relaxing!
I did also once see Ayane in the legendary No. 8 pub, enjoying a post-match pizza with friends and family.
There is no doubt Rosella Ayane has been part of a historic period for Tottenham Hotspur Women. However, it is probably right for both player and club that she moves on.
Rosella Ayane Latest Piece of Contract News
This latest development follows a flurry of contract news at Hotspur Way. Ashleigh Neville, Olga Ahtinen, Kit Graham and Josefine Rybrink have all had their contract extended for a further year. Molly Bartrip, Martha Thomas and Lenna Gunning-Williams have signed deals keeping them at the club until 2028.
The one area in which there has seemingly been no progress is the recruiting of a new head coach. There has been no news as to who will replace Robert Vilahamn. The Euros are about to start, but surely the club cannot afford to wait until the end of the tournament in order to bring in someone?
